The Pied Piper of Chibok
The Pied Piper of Chibok is a new opera set in Africa, composed by Juwon Ogungbe to a libretto written by Olusola Oyeleye. Merging the fairy tale - “The Pied Piper of Hamelin” with the sad events that led to the abduction of some young women by Boko Haram, the opera is based on an idea from Moji Kareem, who is to direct the production.
An excerpt was developed and performed at Opera North, Leeds in March 2018, as part of Resonance, their showcase for new work.
On August 16th & 17th 2018, Mosaic Opera Collective/Utopia Theatre will perform this excerpt at the Grimeborn Opera Festival, Arcola Theatre, 24 Ashwin Street, Dalston London E8 3DL
